Mavericks at Lakers
The Luka game. At the time of writing this, LeBron is listed as probable, dealing with a foot issue. On the other side of the court, Anthony Davis, Daniel Gafford, and Caleb Martin will not play. With Dwight Powell doubtful (hip), and PJ Washington questionable (ankle), this game is looking like a possible throwaway for the Mavericks. With that many bigs and wings out against LeBron James and some good role playing wings playing for the Lakers, I do not think the Mavericks will have enough to keep up with the scoring. The Mavericks do get somewhat lucky, and there is a small light at the end of the tunnel, in my opinion, by running into the Lakers while they are low on centers. That is without a doubt the Lakers worst position on their roster.
The best white scoring trio in the history of the NBA in Luka Doncic, Austin Reaves, and Dalton Knecht are looking to keep the wins coming as they look to make a push for a top 2 or 3 spot in the West. Reaves is averaging 23.2 points along with 6.2 assists per game over the last 10 games. Luka found his stroke again in his last game, getting out of his earlier 3 game slump since joining the Lakers. I would like to see Knecht get his confidence back and start to get more minutes again. As a Tennessee fan, he is one of my favorite players in the association at this moment and it is very unfortunate what happened to him while being a part of the Mark Williams trade.
Given the injuries, I think the Lakers will win by 15-20 points.
February 24, 2025 Game of the Day Recap
Houston 69 – Texas Tech 61
NIL has made college basketball a fun time. There are so many teams that can compete at a high level and have a very good chance to go far in March/April. Two of those said teams were on the hardwood last night in Lubbock. It would have been an even better game if two of Texas Tech’s top 3 scorers were able to play. The game was closer than an 8 point game, as it was within 3 points with just under a minute to play. If Texas Tech has 2 more players, I think they have the energy to pull out a win there. That was unfortunately not the case last night. Texas Tech was simply getting too tired at the end of the game.
Milos Uzan was an efficient scorer last night with 22 points on above 50% from the field along with 3 for 5 from deep. Him playing well, along with the Houston defense becoming impenetrable (holding Texas Tech to under 30% from the field and 20% from three), was a big key for this game along with their future games coming up to round out the Big 12 schedule. This game solidifies at least a share of the Big 12 regular season championship. This being their second share of a regular season conference championship in the same number of years.
UH Milos Uzan: 22 points, 8-15 FG, 3-5 3P
TTU JT Toppin: 14 points, 10 rebounds, 6-18 FG, 0-3 3P
